Included are the development of yourself as a person, and how you acquire capability and knowledge. Additionally it is about how you develop in maturity, in the way you are educated, how you work, and how you develop socially.

True, outside influences from family, through schooling and subsequent education, and in one’s social life, all have their significance in Personal Development. But underpinning this, is the effort we are prepared to make ourselves. A runner can receive the best training, but will not win the marathon unless they have pursued their training vigorously, and are inspired to be the winner.

Individual growth in terms of one’s character, and in terms of one’s skills, represent two important components of Personal Development. And the third is about the growth of self inspiration to achieve. Most of us when we are young, develop personally in a Conventional manner.

This assumes the pretty standard sequencing of school, college and maybe university. Also it assumes several interests and activities outside of academia. In my study of 100 successful people who were world famous, 52% presented themselves as Conventional young people.

Other young people develop personally in more of a Specialized manner. We may have been a great guitar player, or an outstanding athlete. Our family may have been prepared, and inspired us to grow our talent in a focused way, also meaning that we left formal academic education early.

Other Specialized forms of personal development include pursuing vocations, apprenticeships or trades while still young. So developing personally in a Specialized manner, can embrace many alternatives. In researching the patterns of success behind famous people in the world, I found 24% of them were Specialized, as youngsters.

In addition to the more Specialized or Conventional forms of Personal Development, there is one more significant development option. This is Personal Development through Broad Life Experience as youngsters. In so doing, they leave the more typical pathway of academic education.

With Broad Life Experience, young people pursue their own lives, wherever this takes them. This is how they learn and acquire capability, in other words by being involved on the ground in different walks of life. This also comes about by watching other people and life happenings all around them.

So this is very hands on and focuses on reality, rather than on life discovery from a book. May call this reality university, although others may regret they did not complete advanced academic study. Of the successful people I studied, 24% engaged in Personal Development as young people, through Broad Life Experience.

For Young People Wanting To Succeed, The Importance Of Family http://onlineeducationplace.com/online-courses/for-young-people-wanting-to-succeed-the-importance-of-family/ http://onlineeducationplace.com/online-courses/for-young-people-wanting-to-succeed-the-importance-of-family/#comments Thu, 26 Nov 2009 22:50:48 +0000 Peter Stephenson http://onlineeducationplace.com/?p=945 Influence is a critical part of our early development, and the main source is our family. Also, we are influenced by how and where we live in our early lives. We watch others and follow their example, and we learn behavior primarily from our mothers and fathers.

When we are good, we receive praise, and when we are bad, we receive reprimands. We copy our brothers and sisters, and often we confront them. Where we live, the care we receive as children, how we are educated, and our friends, are all influencing factors.

The form of education we receive whether this is primary, secondary, tertiary, also provides strong influence. Yet the bottom line, is that the main form of influence we receive, comes from our parents. When this influence is beneficial, it helps us work out what is important in our lives, and how we should act as human beings, whether at work or at play.

This endures into later life. Where such positive Family Influence exists, I call such young people who benefit from this, Protgs. According to my research audience of 100 successful world famous people, 65% of them when young, were Protgs.

Others when young, but not a large number, come from wealthy families. They often receive their main influence from others beyond the family, for example at elite schools. Silverspoons is the name I accord to such youngsters, and’% of them were thus, according to my research involving the study of 100 bios of world famous successful people.

Yet others, but a minority, have more of an independent streak, as demonstrated by how they live their lives and by how they behave as youngsters. Their family is less important to them. They prefer to do their own thing than follow the family. They often row with their parents, particularly when they don’t get their own way.

Such occurrences stem particularly, from young people experiencing a lack of love, or where they do not feel much sensitivity in the way they are treated, or where they are seen as just getting in the way. This also happens where they are told off by mothers and fathers they feel they can’t look up to. Also, being bossed around by overly perfectionist parents, can have the same outcome.

And finally, young people can exhibit rebellious behavior when they perceive their parents to be distant, and more interested in their careers and work, rather than dedicating themselves to their children. Similarly, where two way communication is rare and is mainly one sided. The name I provide such young people is Rebels, and based on my research of world famous people achieving success in their lives, I discovered 17%, were Rebels, when young.

So what are the threats with Silverspoons? And what is the optimal way to work with Rebels as youngsters? The aim here has to be to improve their chances of survival, let alone achieving success in their lives, in the very difficult work market existing for young people today.
