These words take the edge off a question or a command, unlike some other languages. And you do not seem impatient and harsh. It shows that you have some respect. In turn, you will receive respect.
After the conversational phrases are learned, you will begin to pick up on more and more verbs. These action words will be able to translate anything you want to know, do, say, experience, and so forth. The language idioms, that is, phrases that need to stay together in the right order, will also be learned. This will allow you to sound more like a native of the English speaking country that you are in.
The more nouns you pick up, the better, also. You will be able to name almost anything in a short time. You can go around your house testing yourself as a great exercise for this. And some words you may never need. For instance, you may use the word File, but you may never need to know other phrases that have to do with office work.
You can find certain language study guides that specialize in tools of the trade. These are usually found in the larger cities, like New York. They will have your native language, as well as English and focus on topics like plumbing, architecture, office skills, and so on.
In generations past, people came to America for opportunities that their own countries did not offer. This was a free land, and one could make an honest living and live well here.
